In 2010 a friend of mine and I, were asked
to investigate a local motel here in Chattanooga, by the manager. He
claimed that he had several personal experiences at this location, which for
legal reasons shall remain nameless. Most, he claimed, took place in the bar
area or in his room where he stayed. He witnessed stuff falling off the shelves
in his room and in the bar, where he often sat to watch the door. He said that he would always feel something moving
past him but when he turned and looked, there was nothing there.
Having been an employee working there myself,
people would always tell me that it was haunted. I
never believed in ghost or ever even really thought about it, but curiosity
finally got to me. So when someone I
knew decided to sell his ghost hunting equipment, I decided I would give this
so called Ghost Hunting a try. And now,
that’s all I do!
Unfortunately, this motel has some bad history
too. At this location there have been
murderers, rapist and drug dealers that have stayed here in the past. Not
surprising that ghosts are present. Supposedly in the bar area, attached to the
motel, a man and his mistress were sitting at a table enjoying their night,
when his wife walked in and shot both of them dead. On the first investigation we did there, we
got a photo of a mist like shape, sitting in one of the chairs by the table
where the man and mistress were shot. Even though we never did catch any EVPs
in the bar area it was always an interesting place to investigate.
When it comes to checking out and
investigating the actual rooms, we got to do that a lot. The manager would
always let us do it free as long as we never disturbed anything in the rooms. It was a very exciting place to investigate,
believe it or not. This place seemed to be really active. There were at least 4 to 5 rooms in which
people claimed they had experienced something paranormal. The first room we
checked out was room 271. The claims
were of a shadow figure being seen and very uneasy feelings experienced by the
people staying there. Even an article was written about this room in a local
paper. There had been at least one
confirmed death reported. A guy was shot
on the back side of the second floor and staggered into this room to die on the
bed.
Another room that was investigated was room
170. Let me tell you, this room was
creepy and made me feel very uneasy. The
story that was shared with us, was that a woman had lived in this room for
about a year. Unfortunately she had cancer and was
dying. It was said that she was so sick
her face was sunken in and skull-like.
Sadly the cancer finally took her life, but before it did, she told the
manager that when she passed away, she would return to this room she had called
home.
So one night when we were investigating this
room, my fellow investigator was taking EMF readings. When he got around the entrance
way, he got a spike on the meter and asked if I would take a picture of the
area. When I reviewed the photograph later,
I realized that I had caught a small orb-like object right where he had been
standing and it looked exactly like a skull. Not saying this was paranormal but
it certainly seemed plausible.
I actually stayed in room 265, one of the rooms
that was reported to have strange occurrences in it. I myself never really felt anything strange in
this room, but we did get some unusual EMF readings that I couldn’t explain. We also got a flashlight to turn on and off
for us on command a couple of times, but nothing significant. There was one
occasion where we invited a couple of friends, and fellow investigators over to
visit. While we were sitting there doing an EVP session,
we suddenly heard a voice come from the bathroom area, which said ‘hey’. We knew for certain that the room behind us was
empty and didn’t have an occupant, because it was being used for storage. To this day we have no clue what the entity
might have wanted.
I’m not sure how many entities are present or
why they stay at this motel, but it seems some still like to call it home. So
think about this the next time you are staying at a motel. That creak you heard might not have been the building
shifting. It is possible that you might
not be alone in your room. There may be
unseen occupants left over from previous visits.
