On Monday night June 18, 2012, Paul Cagle, Sushi and Springwolf sat at their round table for The Ænigma Project and held a discussion about Zombies. Out of the headlines we take a look at Zombie lore, myth and magik. Where does the idea come from? Are they real? Does the Government have a Zombie Survivor plan? 

Here's what we discovered.

The History Of Zombies

The beginning of the "Walking Dead" begins in Haiti, the first free black (Afro-Caribbean) republic in the world. In 1804 Haitians defeated Napoleon's Army and earned their independence. As an independent republic, they were free to develop their own culture without oversight or interference from European influences. As such, their culture is a unique blend of African beliefs in conjunction with Native West Indian Taino and European influences. Overriding nearly every aspect of their culture is religion, specifically Voodoun/Vodoun a mixture of African/Haitian beliefs and European Christianity.

Is it the Zombie Apocalypse and No One Told ME?

I hate it when a major 'world' event happens and I'm the last to know!  It's very frustrating.  Has the Zombie apocalypse, that all these books and movies worn us of, finally arrived?  Let's hope not.  But in a disturbing turn of events, there was a recent attack on a homeless man where the attacker actually chewed the man's face off!  Rudy Eugene was found on the side of the road, naked, chewing on Ronald Poppo's face in Miami, FL.  For some bizarre reason, Poppo was half naked as well.  Police showed up at the scene and told Eugene to step away, however, Eugene turned to growl at the officer and continued to rip chunks out of Poppo's face.  The officer shot Eugene with no apparent effect, so was forced to shoot him repeatedly, finally killing him.  Poppo was sent to the hospital but his face was described as 'unrecognizable'.
